We've been hearing a lot about the development of USB 3.0 data communication, and I guess we can start seeing the result of that research in the camera device. Point Grey, recently demonstrated their new webcam that was able to stream HD Video in 1080p resolution at 60 fps without any compression. That resolution combined with more frames was a pretty big data to send but in return, it will deliver a very sharp motion picture quality, all of this is possible thanks to the Point Grey USB 3.0 Webcam.
However, the USB 3.0 existence was still not a standard in the nowadays manufactures, therefore they don't exist in the common PC motherboard we can find in the market. But it is not without solution, if you happen to only own a USB 2.0 port in your PC or laptop, you can still use this USB camera by using additional PCI-Express to USB3.0 converter Card. Point Grey stated that they would release this new USB 3.0 webcam in late 2009 or early 2010. Well, we'll be waiting then :D
